I am currently knitting a Man Cowl for the HHBL. I like to refer to it as The Mowl (rhymes with howl) for short. He doesn't know it but this is going to be his best friend this winter. The boy did not ask for one. He probably will not wear it. I am going to knit it and quietly leave it on the passenger seat of his vehicle. I'll be at the ready with my camera in case we have any Mowl sightings.

Holy thermal underwear Batman!! It is currently -2 degrees outside and snowing. I have never been more happy to be inside with no reason to go out.

I wish I could say there is no knitting in sight but I am looking at a pattern as I write this. I did promise to take the day off to give myself a break. Sounds good right? Trust me....tomorrow I will be bitching about how I really should have knit today because things will never be done in time. You'll see. Stay tuned for the bitchfest tomorrow.

Knitting Schmitting

I am one tired, very burnt out, knitter. I have been trying to get gifts done for people and it is at the point where I don't like knitting anymore. Yes we have reached the breaking point. It's my own fault for not starting gifts sooner. In my defense I didn't come up with this idea until recently. I tried to OD on caffeine but that didn't work. Caffeine makes me sick so it just added to my misery. I tried late nights and early mornings. When a person doesn't get enough beauty rest.....the knitting gets ugly real fast. Through it all.....I knit on. All I can say is "Are we there yet?"

So how did I do it? While staring longingly at the Kindle on Amazon I noticed they had listed a refurbished one for sale. After a few minutes of humming and hawing I jumped on it. The thing that sealed the deal was the lowered price and that it comes with the same warranty as a brand spankin new one. DONE DEAL! Because I had to have one asap and am a Amazon Prime member I paid $3.99 for the over night shipping. WOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Ok enough chatter I must go and play with my precioooouuuuuussssss.

Calling all Fang Bangers.......I have a copy of Charlaine Harris' book Dead Until Dark up for grabs. It is book number one in the Southern Vampire Mysteries. It is paperback and came with the Sookie Stackhouse Boxed Set I recently purchased from Amazon. I already own book one with the original cover art so I will be passing this second one on. I would like a Kindle for Christmas. Unfortunately delivery times are now 11 - 13 weeks out and I don't think you yourself could name drop and get on the list. I did see people* selling used ones at inflated prices from $549.00 - $1200.00 (how is that legal!?) and while I have been good.....I haven't been that good. Is there anyway I can save up my good girl points I earned this year and put them towards my gift for next year? Think about it and get back to me.

Twilight - The Movie

I finally had a chance to go see Twilight today. Some parts of the movie were ok but for the most part it was rather lame. I know the books are always going to be better than the movie but I had high hopes for this one. Will I go and see the next movie when it comes out? Maybe. Maybe not.

From Crap to Clap

Have you ever bought a skein of yarn you fell in love with only to get it home and upon winding it want to throw it in the garbage? No? Well I have. This has happened to me twice. The most recent time was the Lorna's Laces Lion and Lamb I purchased to make a Clapotis. Between the pattern and the ugly yarn this project was quickly dubbed CRAPotis. When I bound off the last stitch I knew there was no way in hell this would be worn. I couldn't even give it as a gift because three skeins in I ran out of yarn and had to purchase an odd skein with a different dye lot number. Think dye lots don't matter? Trust me they do! I had a nice dark corner picked out for this ugly mess. End of story? Nope. Mary Kay (she is now my hero) suggested I try and dye it another color. Hmmmmmm......I had nothing to lose at this point. She suggested black and without blinking I said yes! So with Crapotis in hand I headed on over to Mary Kay's and we proceeded to drop the ugly mess into a nice pot of black dye.

On Saturday night HHBL and I went to a Halloween Party at a friends home. We had a blast! Next year I will have to pick a costume that allows me to smile for the camera. I had to play the moody goth part. Trust me, it only looks like I am not having fun. We laughed our butts off!

Last night I met some friends down at the Tattered Cover to bask in the greatness of two knitting goddesses. Two names......Leigh Radford and Wendy Bernard. If hearing those words doesn't make your heart pitter patter shame on you.

Let's start with my girl Leigh Radford. I worship her. One of my favorite knitting books of all time is AlterKnits followed closely by One Skein. She recently came out with another book titled AlterKnits Felt. I love Leigh but sort of avoided the book because I thought felting was dead. Boy am I wrong. There are several items in the book that I am currently lusting after. That Blue Jay Blanket is numero uno on my list followed closely by some super fun Christmas Stockings and Ornaments.

Now we move on to the cute and sassy Ms.Wendy Bernard. If you have never checked out her blog go do that. It is called Knit and Tonic. Why do we love her? Because her patterns rock! Let me just say.....Top-Down. Is there any other way to knit a sweater? Well I guess there is but we love that TD method of knitting. Her book is titled, Custom Knits and I highly recommend it. She also has single patterns you can purchase on her website.

Wendy had on the coolest pair of boots that I must track down and purchase asap.

The Tangled Twisted Thingamabob is going full steam ahead. I managed to finish the body last night and am just getting ready to cast on for the sleeves. So far the only thing I have changed is the length. I wanted it just a tad bit longer. Hopefully it will look OK.

For those of you who have asked I am using Rowan (whom I lust after) Felted Tweed. In shade #172 - Ancient. It is a gorgeous greenish grey color.

Is exactly what I said when I saw this yarn. All I can say is you had me at sparkles. The yarn is from Red Rocks Fiber Works and the colorway is.....Ruby Slippers. While gazing lovingly into the sparkly skein I remembered some buttons I have tucked away.

I am currently knee deep in the Tangled Yoke Cardigan. I have had my eye on this sweater for quite a while now. It was going a bit slow on the bottom portion of the sweater because of the k2, p2 ribbing. I managed to get to the end of that last night just before I went to bed. So we have some progress.

Ancient Chinese Secret Revealed

OK I can finally talk about the "Ancient Chinese Secret" I have been working on.

What is it? It was a top secret gift I was working on for my sister. The plan was to give it to her for her wedding. Because she reads my blog (Hi Kristin!) I could not talk about it.

The pattern is: Shetland Triangle by Evelyn A. Clark. It can be found in the Wrap Style book by Pam Allen and Ann Budd.

What yarn did I use? It is Buckingham by Bristol Yarn Gallery. It is 80% Baby Alpaca, 20% Silk. The color I used is #1016 - Periwinkle.

I loved knitting this pattern!

I promise to post a picture of the beautiful bride wearing it as soon as I can.

Extreme Vacation

We are back from our vacation in Moab, Utah. We went there for The Land Rover National Rally. I will not bore you with a million pictures. ...just a few.

There were many long, hot days of off-roading. I was not able to get any "Extreme Knitting" done because the trails were just too crazy. Not to mention the only knitting project I brought with me was the Gumdrop Sock. Size 1 DPN's and a crazy bumpy, tippy trail don't mix. Besides you know what will happen if I have to rip out that sock again. I don't even want to think about it.

We did manage to get a crap load of Geocaching done in Moab. While out exploring we crossed paths with stink bugs, lizards, a snake, a large spider, several bees, and a shit load of annoying gnats.

Ghost Hunting: True Stories of Unexplained Phenomena from The Atlantic Paranormal Society by Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson. This was a really quick read. I love these guys! If you love their show, "Ghost Hunters" than you will love this book.

I am currently deep into Duma Key by my man Stephen King. I am past the halfway point and can't get enough of it. This is a good one.

I went down to my favorite book store to meet local author Jeanne Stein, the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers 2008 “Writer of the Year". She read from her newest Anna Strong vampire novel "Legacy". This is the fourth in the series. She did mention that the fifth book is already in her publishers hands. She is currently working on number six and there will be two more after that.

She was so sweet she baked brownies for everyone. She also signed all four of my books. So we of course love her!

I have had this book sitting on my shelf for years. I finally had a chance to read it for the R.I.P Challenge. I liked it. I did not find it to be a scary book but then I had to keep reminding myself it was written for a much younger audience. Would I recommend it? Yes.

Yet Another Movie - The Dark Knight

Yesterday we went to see The Dark Knight. I figured since we are probably the last people on the Earth to see it that the theatre would be empty. Wrong! Either we are not the last people to see it or it is just that good that people went to see it again. I think it could very well have been the second choice. The movie was awesome! Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker was incredible. He really was an amazing actor.

I highly recommend seeing it and we will be owning this one on DVD.

Sunday Movie - Tropic Thunder

We really enjoyed this. It was pretty darn funny.

Robert Downey Jr. was hysterical! He is making a serious come back.

I did not know Tom Cruise was in this movie. He was freakin' hysterical! Oh and white boy has got some killer moves. The boy can dance. I was like DAMN!

I don't think we will buy this one on DVD but we did like it.

Wheezing My Way to the Top

HHBL and I decided to take his Defender 90 out for a drive so we headed up to the mountains. I found a listing for a cache that was hidden in an old quartz quarry so we decided to head there. It was on a part of the Colorado Trail. Let's just say I thought the hike getting there was not going to be too bad. I was so wrong. When all was said and done I think we had figured out that we climbed 300 feet to the top of the mountain. Guess who left their inhaler at home? Yup, that would be me the dumb ass with asthma! It was rough. Twice I was on the verge of a break down but managed to keep going. We rested several times and drank lots of water. Once it leveled out towards the top I was ok.

You can see our destination through the trees.

After all the hard work of getting up there we could not find the cache. We were really disappointed. I swore I was NEVER going to attempt this one again. The next morning I woke up and informed HHBL that I would wait until the fall so the weather would be cooler and we were going back up there. I am no quitter!

On Friday evening we packed a picnic and headed back to the geocache spot that had us doing a bit of climbing. I was determined to find it and I am proud to say we did.

We stayed at the park and watched the sunset and then decided to pack it up and head home. So what was my treasure I took from the cache? I decided to take home the letter "E" scrabble tile. E is for "Excellent".

Yesterday I heard this song somewhere and it has been stuck in my head. Last night I heard it again in the movie. It came on again today and I caught myself dancing while I was listening to it. YIKES! How did that happen!? I'm telling you it's the chorus that gets me moving!

R.I.P III Challenge

Autumn is just around the corner and with it comes thoughts of getting comfortable on the couch with a nice hot cup of cocoa and a book that makes your heart race. It's even better if your home alone and it's getting dark. Spooky!

I have been looking for the perfect book challenge and managed to find one that has been floating around on several book blogs I read. It is Carl's RIP Challenge. It sounds like fun.

There are three levels of the challenge to pick from. I’m participating in Peril the First, in which you pick four scary books to read between September 1st and October 31st, 2008. However, you could do Peril the Second and only have to read two books. There is also Peril the Third where you would only have to read one book. I love a challenge with options! Oh and the books can be of any length. So don't feel like you have to pick a book with a billion pages.

Ravelympics Shmavelympics!

I know you are all wondering how many gold medals I managed to bring home while competing in the Ravelympics. The answer would be: NONE! NADA! I came close with Mr. Greenjeans. I have three more ends to weave in and I need to doctor the button hole a bit. I could have had Mr. G done but I need to block the sweater and I have never done that before.

On a positive note I did get a fire lit under my butt to start a project that needs to be done. The Ancient Chinese Secret project is coming along nicely. I think I am going to do a few more pattern repeats and then start the edging.

Maybe I could get an "A" for effort?

On Sunday we headed up to Empire in Clear Creek County to do some off-roading. I didn't have a chance to grab knitting on the way out the door so there was no "Extreme Knitting" this time around. Trust me there will be plenty of that next month in Moab.

We did Red Elephant Hill and while it was a bit scary, the scenery was worth it.

The Girl Goes Geocaching

On Saturday the Hunka Hunka Burnin' Love and I went and did something I have wanted to try for a while now. We went Geocaching.

So what the hell is geocaching you ask....

"Basically, geocaching is a high-tech version of treasure hunting. Geocachers seek out hidden treasures utilizing GPS coordinates posted on the Internet by those hiding the cache. Using a GPS unit, they then trek out into the backwoods or urban jungles to find the hiding spot of the cache. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. If the visitor takes something out of the cache, they are asked to leave something in return. For some, the biggest reward is the thrill of the search and the discovery of a place that they have never been."

We picked a cache that was close to the house. Grabbed the GPS and plugged in the coordinates. We headed off to Daniels Park to find our first treasure. I wish I could tell you mission accomplished, but we could not find the damn thing! We think we know where it is but we would have to climb down a cliff and then trudge through a very wild landscape of bugs and snakes. Sounds very Indiana Jones if you ask me. So we failed. However I told the HHBL that next weekend I will be out there with some climbing gear, bug spray, and a big stick. I am not going to give up!

It didn't help that storm clouds were coming in fast and the lightning was getting a little crazy.

On the way out of the area we were able to catch sight of the Buffalo (American Bison). They are being raised by a private rancher. They are not always visible so it is a treat when you can see them.

Package number one arrived from the Twilight Saga Sock Yarn Club and I could not be happier.

The pattern is called, "My Heart Belongs to Edward" and the colorway is Edward and Bella.

Here is a picture I got from the website so you can see the pattern. Hearts start at the toe and run up the leg of the sock. LOVE IT!

Beach Swap Package

Our special swap theme this time around was "Beach" and my swap pal was Elizabeth.

There was tons more stuff in that pile but it all seemed to disappear before I took the picture. For some reason my man seems to think that any candy or food items that arrive in swap packages are for him. He ate it all before I even had a chance to look at it. *sigh*

There was stuff for a pedicure including some great red nail polish. I was going to take a photo of my painted toes but you would never ever come back if I did that. Feet.....YIKES! I got lotion, and a great kit that contains everything you could want to use to pamper your feet.

I got some awesome purple and green yarn that will be making the most awesome socks. I love me some purple and green funkiness! Oh yes I do! I also got some really pretty blue Regia. I have had my eye on that yarn for some time now. I think I am going to do a no frills, plain old sock with it since I want the pattern to show more than anything.

I love stationary! I got some super cute cards and a message pad. I have used both of them already.

I also got the book, "Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much" by Stephanie Pearl McPhee. Love that!

I feel like I am forgetting a ton of stuff.

Sisterhood of the Movie-Going Knitters

On Tuesday night Stacey, Mary-Kay and myself all headed down to the movie theatre to check out "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2".

I read the first book when it came out and even though it is for a younger audience I was able to connect with the characters. I had no idea there were other books in the series otherwise I would have read those as well.

There are a total of four books in the STP series:

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
The Second Summer of the Sisterhood
Girls in Pants
Forever in Blue

It is from the last three books that the second movie is made from.

If you are a fan of the author or enjoyed the first movie...I highly recommend seeing the second film.

*On a side note: The author, Ann Brashares just wrote her first adult novel. It sounds interesting and seems to be getting some good ratings. It is titled, "The Last Summer (of You and Me)".

Ravelympics Progress Report

So far so good. Projects have been shifted around in order of priority. The Laceweight Long Jump project aka. Ancient Chinese Secret has been getting all of my attention.

The dark object in the picture that has been impaled with my needle is good ole Mr. Greenjeans. I have three more ends to weave in and then he needs to be blocked. I see light at the end of the tunnel for this one.

The socks that HATE me aka. Goody Goody Socks have been moved to the end of the list. I will just be happy if I can get one of them done. I think between me and my lovely assistant Jen at Purls of Wisdom we should be able to figure them out. If anything Jen can make sure the sock stays put under the back wheel when I roll the car over it. Damn socks!

I ripped this damn thing out twice now. I will not be beat a third time. I am going to give it one more shot. Then we back the car over it.

Last Friday night, the Hunka Hunka Burnin Love and I went down to the Tattered Cover for a Midnight Release Party for the fourth book in the bestselling Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer.

We got to watch all the screaming teeny boppers play Family Feud.

It was Vampires vs. Werewolves.

While all this was going on around us what is my man doing?

Looking at a Land Rover magazine. Shocking!

I saw guys dressed in vampire costumes. I saw girls in bridal wear, prom dresses, capes, and TONS of Team Edward and Edward Fan Club shirts.

Death of a Slipper

Well, it finally happened. My slippers aka. felted clogs kicked the bucket. They had been on their way out for quite some time.

While watching a movie last night I noticed something strange.

With a little help from several hours of sitting in front of the idiot box...Crapotis is back and better than ever. We had lots of progress happening Saturday while watching the Twilight Zone marathon.

Crapotis hit the water in the frog pond late last night.

After several inches of safe tinking I decided to throw caution to the wind and pull her off the needles to see what the heck happened. I ripped back several rows with no luck. So she dove ever so gracefully into the frog pond. I am back on track and will give an update tomorrow.

The best tip I can give on this is:

Let's get right to the point...I HATE THIS PROJECT!!

I have wanted to knit Clapotis since Knitty.com published it. I have seen hundreds of pictures and drooled over each and every one of them. I have several yarns earmarked specifically for this. The problem? I HATE this project. I have since changed the name from Clapotis to CRAPotis.

I LOVE the yarn! It is Lorna's Laces - Lion and Lamb in the beautiful shade of Watercolor. So far so good. Right?

I LOVE how the colorway is knitting up! Still good. Right?

Here is a progress picture. Still good? Maybe.

Here comes the problem. After doing two repeats a certain knitter might have gotten a little cocky. I am not going to mention any names. Said knitter figured they knew the pattern and could take the "training wheels" off. After several repeats and upon reaching a certain point in the pattern I realized something was wrong. There were too many stitches on one side and I was not where I should have been. Basically if you forget to increase you are screwed!

It was at this time that horror set in and I guess it is safe to say my face looked a little something like this:

I have unknit at least 2 inches and still the stitches are not right. If the yarn wasn't so beautiful not to mention expensive I would have already backed the car over it a few times. Maybe I will take my print out of the pattern and back the car over that. That might make me feel better.

I think it might be time for a Mike's Hard Pomegranate Lemonade. Yes that sounds nice.

Rip or not to rip?...That is the question.

Camp Wannaknitknit 2008

Camp Wannaknitknit 2008 was AMAZING!!

Camp was hosted at a gorgeous home in Vail.
The property was breathtaking as you can see in the pictures.

We all had goodie bags waiting for us in our rooms -- Piddleloop bags, Jelby stitch markers and Red Rocks Fiber Works yarn (in a colorway named Camp WannaKnitKnit).

Stacey organized a craft session at the table on Saturday. We made DPN holders. These cute holders keep your stitches from falling off the ends when your not working on your project. I think it also keeps the needles from poking holes in your bags. Either way they are super cute!

Yeah you can tell I didn't like that craft at all.
I mean I only made how many? Six!

There was lots of knitting time...of course.

There was no shortage of food and drink. We ate like royalty all weekend. To all the ladies who cooked for us...THANK YOU!! I want each and every one of you to come and live with me and spoil me everyday! You girls totally ROCK!

I can't wait to see what 2009 has up it's sleeve for Camp Wannaknitknit.

Hip to be Square

So what have I been up to on the topic of knitting these last two weeks?

SQUARES

I have been busting my butt knitting square after square for the Barn - Raising Quilt aka. The Friendship Blanket. The pattern is in the book titled, Knitalong by Larissa Brown. Several of the girls have decided that each of us will knit a square with a yarn that says something about ourselves. Such as favorite color, favorite yarn, etc. We will then get together and trade our squares. So you knit one square per person. I love the idea. I have to make 9 - 10 squares. The plan is to trade them this weekend. So I have been burning the midnight oil trying to get them done. I have three more to go. Cross your fingers.

I am using Red Rocks Fiber Works - Snowmass Sock yarn in the colorway PUNK. Why did I choose this yarn to represent KellyGirl? I love punk rock. I love the colors pink, grey and black together. I also at one point had my hair dyed in exactly these colors. So it was pretty much a given.

Tattered Cover - Lily Koppel

Yet another night out at the book store. Tonight I got to meet Lily Koppel. She is the author of The Red Leather Diary: Reclaiming a Life Through the Pages of a Lost Journal. I just purchased this book Monday after a suggestion by a friend. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a sign saying she was going to be reading from and speaking about the book tonight.

I can not wait to start this one. The story behind the book is just incredible.

Gee's Bend Quilts - Denver Art Museum

Yesterday, I headed downtown with Michelle and Michaele to see Gee's Bend - The Architecture of the Quilt exhibit at the Denver Art Museum. We were not allowed to take pictures for some reason I am still scratching my head about. I was rather sad, since I actually remembered to bring the camera with me.

Michelle was the one that turned me on to these quilts. I am now obsessed with them. I have drooled over them in books but seeing them in person.....you are just blown away.

If you do a search on Google you can see tons of examples. This is one of my favorites. I think it is on exhibit in Texas.

Tattered Cover - Jen Lancaster

Last night I went to the Tattered Cover to listen to Jen Lancaster read from her new book titled Such a Pretty Fat: One Narcissist's Quest To Discover if Her Life Makes Her Ass Look Big, Or Why Pie is Not The Answer.

All I can say is.....LOVE HER!! If you have not read any of her books I highly recommend running to your local bookstore or library right now. Warning: While reading these books there is a good chance you will laugh so hard you may very well pee yourself. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Her first book is titled Bitter is the New Black: Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smartass, Or, Why You Should Never Carry A Prada Bag to the Unemployment Office.

Her second book is titled Bright Lights, Big Ass: A Self-Indulgent, Surly, Ex-Sorority Girl's Guide to Why it Often Sucks in the City, or Who are These Idiots and Why Do They All Live Next Door to Me?

We were told there is a fourth book on its way. Hooray!

I also recommend visiting her website Jennsylvania.

Jen is a very funny, sweet, patient person who did not even flinch when several customers in line (including me) asked her to sign all three of her books.

Today is National Martini Day!

Kickin' Key Lime Pie Martini

Ingredients:

1.5 oz. lime-flavored vodka (like Finlandia Lime or Smirnoff Twist of Lime)

1 oz. Torani Sugar Free Vanilla Syrup

2 tbsp. pineapple juice

1 tbsp. lime juice

1 tbsp. Cool Whip Free

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a martini shaker with 1 cup ice (crushed ice works best). Cover the top of the shaker, and shake thoroughly. Strain into a martini glass and enjoy!

MAKES 1 SERVING

Aint No Party Like A Wool Party

Friday morning the knitting posse loaded up and headed to Allenspark to spend the night knitting, drinking, eating, and most importantly laughing.

We stayed at the Meeker Park Lodge. They have some of the cutest log cabins to stay in. I highly recommend this place.

The plan was to get up early and hit the Estes Park Wool Market first thing in the morning. Mission accomplished!

The first booth we hit was the Plain & Fancy booth. The beauty you see below is going to get knit into a Seraphim Shawl. I grabbed three skeins of that.

We hit a bunch of other booths and then circled back to our favorites. I grabbed some pretty pale pink laceweight yarn from Skaska Designs. It is 55% silk and 45% cashmere. To die for!

I also grabbed some Graceful Lace Yarn from the same booth. This is going to be knit into something gorgeous. I'm just not sure what yet. I was thinking something with a leaf pattern might be nice since it has three shades of green through out the skein.

Last but not least we back tracked to the Textiles A Mano booth that was jam packed. I grabbed two skeins of Wuxi which is 50% silk and 50% wool. This stuff is sooooo soft. I think this soft treasure is going to be knit into a Hanami Stole by Pink Lemon Twist.

On the drive home in Sams sporty convertible, I acquired this beautiful shade of red. Yeah I think it is safe to say I reached lobster status. My face is equally red but I figured I would spare you that picture. The bright red face with my glowing white eyeballs will scare the pants off ya. Sam offered the sunscreen and I politely said, "No thank you." Boy was that a mistake. I forget how bad the sun is here. Had I done the math (eek numbers!) and took the time it takes to get home and then figured in those hours sitting in the sun. I might have begged to use it. Lesson learned.

Today was World Wide Knit in Public Day. I hope everyone did their part and was able to get out and knit in public. I know my peeps at Purls of Wisdom were going to be representing out there on the sidewalk. So now for the moment of truth. Did I knit today? Yes. Was it in public? No. I do have a good excuse though. I was at the Estes Park Wool Market. Which I think counts since it is both knitting related and public. Yeah that works for me.

Remember this gorgeous yarn I posted about back in March? It is from Red Rocks Fiber Works and it is the one I secretly re-named Kelly Girl. Ah yes, now you remember. Yesterday while I was cruising around on Ravelry I fell in love with my next project. Not only did it beg for the Kelly Girl yarn, it looked as if it was made for the project.

Look what rolled into our driveway last weekend.

It's a 2002 VW Beetle (turbo baybeeee!) in a gorgeous Blue display of color.

I know some of you are shocked right now. I am still keeping my Range Rover. There is no way that is leaving here anytime soon. That is my baby. With gas prices the way they are hubby and I have been talking about a car for a long time. We considered a BMW and the one I want is waaaaaay too pricey. We considered a Mini and again waaaaaay too pricey. The Beetle has been at the top of my list for many years now. We did some shopping and got a smokin deal.

There was no shortage of candy in my box. From chocolates to taffy, Marisol pretty much covered all the bases for my sweet tooth.

One of my favorite goodies in the box was some sock yarn I have been dying to get my hands on. It is some Yarn Pirate in the colorway Sweet Lime. LOVES IT!!! Yeah if I had to pick one of their colors it would be that one. The sock yarn came with a very theme inspired pattern called "Candy Wrappers". I will be casting on for these on Sunday.

Speaking of Sweet Lime. If you have not had the new Bud Light Lime you need to run, not walk, to the nearest liquor store. It is one of our new favorites. Yes, lime beer is good.

I got some delicious Spice Cake candles. They smell wonderful!

Now we come to yet another favorite. How stinkin cute is this sock!? I am in love!

For the ultimate Sweet Treat with no fat, no calories, no taste......yummy stitch markers. These cuties will be getting lots of hang time on the needles.

Last night I went to the movies with Stacey, Mary-Kay and Michaele to see the new Sex and the City movie. If you are/were a fan of the show I highly recommend the movie. I will be owning this one when it comes out on DVD.

So what's in the bag?

It's one very lonely yarn cake.

It is very lonely, because I have not been in the mood to sit and wind the rest of the yarn cakes friends.

The goal for Thursday is to wind all the cotton. Sounds easy but I have another blanket I am going to make using the same stuff. I am going to have cotton coming out of my ears at this rate.

Package number two arrived from the oh so fabulous Nefarious Yarn Club. The honor for this round goes to fellow knitter.......Madame Defarge.

She is a villainous character in Charles Dickens novel A Tale of Two Cities. Our evil knitster was a cruel revolutionary whose hatred of the aristocracy fueled her tireless crusade. Madame Defarge spends a good deal of the novel knitting a register of everyone who must die for the revolutionary cause. Unlike her husband, she proves unrelentingly blood-thirsty, and her lust for vengeance knows no bounds

The stitch marker on this one is a guillotine.

ipod Seussical Sweater

It's sad when your ipod dresses better than you do. This cute Dr. Seuss inspired sweater was knit with Alchemy (drool drool drool) Bamboo. It is a dream to knit with. I think the color used was Rosita. I knit this a few years ago and then tossed it into the "God I really hate to weave in ends pile." The other day I realized I am tired of watching my ipod slide around the car naked. So I went home blew the dust off the tiny sweater and wove in all three ends. Yes all three of them. Sometimes you just have to wonder what the hell was I thinking!? I am happy to say the ipod is naked no more.

Does anybody else remember this kick ass song!? This came on the radio this morning and I cranked it so loud I thought the windows were going to blow out of my car.

I also found out that my man Philly Phil (sorry that's my pet name for him) aka Phil Collins plays that awesome drum beat that you hear.

**Side note to my friends Jen, Sam and Ruth - Ladies you know that conversation we always have at SnB? Oh I think you know the one. Well Phil is so on my list!!! Actually I have something specific about Phil to add to that but I am not putting it on my blog because it is naughty.

Baby Got Buttons

My hatred for buttons was very short lived. So short in fact that I think it only lasted for two days. Well baby got buttons! I found an AMAZING source on Etsy for some of the worlds cutest buttons. If you don't believe me.....have a look below.

The shop name is Creamrose and I can not say enough good things about my new button supplying friend Nicki. She is located in the UK so we LOVE her. Shipping is fast and service is awesome. She has some of the cutest buttons I have ever seen. Nicki finds fun bits of fabric and works her magic by creating super cute must have buttons. I highly recommend stopping by and saying hello.
