Copy Cat

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

So if it looks like you have seen this exact jacket somewhere else. It's because you have. My friend Stacey of Sheep in the City made the exact and I do mean exact same jacket. Right down to the buttons. I wish I could say that the idea was all mine but sadly it was not. She chose the yarn color first. She knit it up and then taught the class on it. Then bought the cutest elephant buttons to complete the project and called it done. I fell in love with the yarn and had to copy her. I crashed her class because I just had to knit this cute jacket. Then after going to five different locations (I swear and I can name them if you really want me to) looking for the perfect buttons for this jacket I settled on the same exact elephant buttons that she picked. I tried to be different really I did. I had a vision in my mind for the buttons I wanted. Gorgeous glass flower shaped buttons. I got desperate towards the end and figured anything that even looked good would be acceptable. Everything looked terrible. Everything except the elephant buttons. I have not sewn them on yet. I am still hoping to find the perfect buttons that I want. If I don't.......helloooooo Mr. Elephant.

Glass flower buttons sound adorable. you could always work with a crafter and have someone make what you envision in your mind's eye. If not, the elephant buttons are cute.

Kelly~I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but I live in California and only shop where Stacey and her Mom work at the yarn store because they have such great taste in yarn, buttons. the whole shebang! I can really sympathize with you! Your jacket is cute. I am making the BSJ because of what I saw too. But sometimes you just have to trust yourself and try something you see inside your head, like Wanda said above. Seems as if you do just fine!

it's adorable - and really, why keep looking if you already love the buttons you have? Just make sure the little ones don't wear the same jacket if they ever meet and have a playdate (they'd be SO embarassed...)

It's cute, and very unlikely that the babies will ever be in the same room together.

Very nice job, miss fast knitter!

I LOVE that you copied me! Stuff like that doesn't bother me a bit, it just means that we both have really good taste :)

You are too funny. What is it with the serious lack of places to find fab buttons around here. I spot a business opportunity...
