Son of a Dirty Pirate

Feeling pretty confident in my newly acquired sock knitting skills I decided to really challenge myself and sign up to knit a Wee Tiny Sock. Only at the time I didn't know it was going to be challenging. I figured how hard could it be to make a tiny sock!? Haaaa what do I know!?

I have the basic skills so I was good in that department. I sort of know the terms for the different areas of the sock. I did take a self taught sock anatomy 101 before casting on for the Dirty Pirate Sock. So I was all set. What is the problem you ask? Well dear reader the problem would be the fact that the Wee Sock requires you to use size 0 needles. Let me break it down for you......TOOTH PICKS! Oh and throw in the fact that they were wooden. Every slip of the stitch, I thought the needles were going to break. It was touch and go there for a bit in the beginning. I just had to keep telling myself......"gentle hands." I can't even imagine using a size 000. I bow down to all you knitters that have taken the 000 challenge and have walked away victorious.

After all my hard work.......I am proud to announce it is a bouncing wee tiny Son of a Dirty Pirate.

I will be adding a pirate themed charm to the wee one and turning it into a key chain. The sock stork will then come and pick the tiny one up to deliver it to it's new home.

At least you got it done. Size 0 needles, sure, but it was wee tiny! I'm sure it took you no time to crank that little son of a
%@$#& sock done!! (heehee)

Gee, little sock man makes big sock man look huge! He is rather cute. I've swatched for socks on size 0, and I agree with you completely--slippery and I thought they might break at any moment, and wondered how anyone manages to knit on size 000s.

Awesome work on both socks!

You know that I am a big fan of the tiny needles but I was sweating my Wee Tiny sock when I had to pick up stitches for the heel. I bought those short needles on Friday and they are already bent and warped looking from the two wee tiny socks I knit with them. What I really need are short metal size 0 dpns--I have long ones but that is overkill for such a tiny project.

Kelly~if I knew you better, I would say oh, Kel! So great! Man, it looks so much better than mine! The toe of mine on Sunday night got very wonky and I dropped them, so I had to whip stitch them. I feel sorry for my pal. but I did get it done in time. Yours is so cute!
