The Breakup

Dear Halloween Mystery Bag,

We need to talk. I have been doing a lot of thinking and I just don't think this is going to work out between us. I tried really I did. I adjusted needle size, I messed with the colors, and I even ripped and started over again. I just think at this time it would be best if we went our separate ways. Please don't think Rowan, Noro, or Malabrigo put me up to this. It has nothing to do with them.

Trust me when I say........

It's not you....it's me.

The Hemlock Ring Blanket

This is The Hemlock Ring Blanket from Brooklyntweed.

I have been in love with this blanket for quite some time now. I have heard nothing but good things about it. My two favorite words....Size 10 needles and fast project. Sign me up!! I do have to say that what is fast to one person means turtle speed to me but it's all good.

For more pictures and to get the FREE pattern go to Brooklyntweed's blog (click on the link above or under the section of blogs I read) and scroll down to the August 18th post. He has lots of beautiful pictures posted including the two below which are his.

Potty Talk

I found Mr. Toilet Paper while surfing around Ravelry.

My first thought was......who the hell would knit that!?!?

I resisted....really I did.

I just kept looking at that little face and then finally I said.....

"OH FINE!!!!"

No that's not true. While I would not waste yarn on this, I did think it was rather funny. I was in dire need of some potty humor today and it came in the form of Mr. Toilet Paper Scarf.

The pattern is a free pattern on Mochimochi's Blog.

Don't laugh.....for if you do.....you just might receive one of these for
(insert your holiday of choice).

MONSTER HAT

This my friends is something I have been trying to get my hands on for quite a while now. I recently got lucky and managed to snag one.

It is an INSUBORDIKNIT Monster Hat Knit Kit

This is what it said about Swirly on the website when I purchased him:

"I like to think that swirl is winking, perpetually.
Really he was born like that.
The doctors tried to fix it but to no avail.
He used to wear a patch but it gave him a rash."

How much is that Swirly in the window? He is so cute I just had to have him.

Swirly arrives in Colorado and wonders what sort of hell this is.

I am working my mojo on Swirly.

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

Now some Swirly diva goodness.

Swirly with attitude!!

Getting Organized

Thanks to our snowy sunday I was able to move my yarn room to it's final resting place......spare bedroom number three. These are the only two pictures I am willing to show at the moment. Why? Because they look pretty and will trick you into thinking I am a very organized yarn person. SUCKER!!! Oh if you only knew what spare bedroom number one looks like. Let's just say it looks like a yarn shop exploded in there. I am not brave enough to show you any pictures of it. However for the right price my husband would probably give guided tours and beg you to take samples. Don't even think about it.

Let It Snow!

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

We woke up to some white stuff falling from the sky. About an hour later it was really coming down. I have no idea how much we are supposed to get but I am crossing my fingers for a snow day tomorrow. Hey one can wish! I have my snowy Sunday uniform on......jammies. The fireplace will be turned on. The coffee pot is brewing away. Oh yes and let's not forget the most important thing......KNITTING!!! Lots and lots of knitting.

Knitmare on Elm Street

So yesterday I mentioned receiving two packages. I never told you what was in the second package. Someone sent me a link to this last week and I knew I had to have it. This is some delicious fabric by Michael Miller. The name of it is Knitmare on Elm Street. I am not sure what I am going to do with it......but it will be fabulous!!

Spoiled Rotten

I came home from work today and there were two packages waiting for me. It's always fun to come home to goodies at the door.

One of the packages was from my FiberFlix partner Jennifer aka Craftylilly. I could barely contain myself as I ripped open the package.

She totally SPOILED ME!!!!

Inside the package was a perfect size (and color) tote bag. I love the Sugar Pops card. The fabulous goodies inside the tote bag have the perfect makings for a scary movie knit night. Yahoooooo!!! OK let's start off with the movie: One of my very favorite movies of all time......Friday the 13th. This was the classic movie that made you afraid to go to sleep away camp thanks to my man Jason Voorhees. No movie night would be complete without some snacks......Jujyfruits and Raisinets. YUM!!!! Ah yes, I see you looking at my new yarn. This my friends is some awesome sock yarn from the etsy shop of Razzy Tazzy. The name of the colorway..........Jack Lantern. LOVES IT!!!

Last but not least.....I got some AWESOME stitch markers.
Jennifer made them. I am in awe.
I can't wait to use them....they are perfect!!!

THANK YOU JENNIFER!!!!

Knitting Behind The Wheel

Well here is the proof that I do sit in my car and knit through my lunch hour. I am not sure what I am going to do when it is the dead of winter. I suppose I could be a die hard and sit in my car with the heat cranked. Nah!!! I'm a big baby. I'll find somewhere else to sit and knit in peace for 30 minutes.

I got the Foo Fighters cranked up on the stereo and I am working my hardest at getting the turtleneck/shrug done.

I did cast on for the Halloween Mystery Shawl because I am three weeks behind on that. So I need to haul some major ass on that.

Peek A Boo!! I See You!!

I saw this and nearly peed myself I was so excited. This my friends is some fabulous new yarn from the warped minds over at Insubordiknit Handspun Yarn Shop. If you have never ventured over to their website......get your butt over there!!

The name of this creepy creation is Vitreous Humor.

I am the proud owner of two skeins.

Must Cast On

Hi my name is Kelly and I'm an addict. I haven't cast on for a new project in three weeks. Yes I can hear the gasps of horror from the audience. Several of you have just fainted from the shock. Believe me I am just as horrified as you. I have been trying to "Be Good" and "Finish" things. Which I have to say........SUCKS IT BIG TIME!!!

I am still knitting on my turtleneck shrug. If I don't finish that one soon I can't promise it will not get shoved in a dark corner somewhere.....Repeat after me:

I THINK I CAN

I THINK I CAN

I THINK I CAN

I have several must have projects waiting in the wings. Here are just a few:

Oooohhhhh I can hear the needles and yarn calling out to me.

Must be strong!!!

Mr. Greenjeans from Knitty.Com

Seeing the pictures is making me want to cast on right now.

I MUST STAY STRONG!!!

Coffee Coffee Coffee

After two unsuccessful tries at getting into the Knitters Coffee Swap.....both times I missed the deadline to sign up by meer days. I finally made it in. HOORAY!!!! I do NOT take my coffee as seriously as some people do.....and man are they serious. However I do enjoy a good cup of coffee but only when the seasons turn chilly. Yup you heard right.....I only drink "hot drinks" in the fall and winter. Once it warms up the hot drinks are put to rest (that includes any and all soup items as well.) What can I say I am a coffee/caffeine poser.

Questions:

1. Whole bean or ground? Both are welcome

2. Fully-loaded or decaf? Decaf. (Caffeine makes me feel very sick.)

3. Regular or flavored? Flavored with a capital "F"

4. How do you drink your coffee? Two Sweet & Low's and some French Vanilla Creamer.

5. Favorite coffee ever? I don't remember the brand but it was Hot Buttered Rum

6. Are you fussy about your coffee or will any old bean do? I'm easy...any old bean will do.

7. Favorite treats to have with your coffee? A slice of pound cake.

8. Anything else about your coffee preferences? None that I can think of.

9. Yarn/fiber you love? Everything BUT....see #10.

10. Yarn/fiber you hate? Acrylic. The word alone gives me the shivers.

11. What's on your needles? HAAAA what isn't on my needles?

12. Favorite colors? Blue, Green, Pink, and Brown.

13. Allergies? Bananas. Not really....I just dislike them immensely.

14. Anything you really love, really don't like, or just need to get off your chest? I can't wait to find out who my partner is!!!

So Many Projects.....

So little time.

I either need to clone myself or figure out how to function without sleep.

Let's see what do I have to share with you?

My Turtleneck Shrug is halfway done. I am about 3 inches away from sticking a fork in sleeve number one. Then we start the process all over again for sleeve number two.....(insert HUGE dramatic sigh here.) The good news for my knitting is that Jeff has another EXTREME KNITTING trail planned for tomorrow. He is thrilled, sleeve number two is thrilled, I just want to sleep until noon.

Exhibit A: Sleeve Number One

I managed to get my butt down to the local craft store and purchase some cute fabric for my candy corn bag. I was really hoping to find white fabric with candy corns on it.....but it is Halloween and white does not seem to be the color for this candy filled holiday. Gee big surprise there.

"B" is for BOO!

This is a quick picture of some fabulous sock yarn I purchased the other day.

The color is: BOO!

I don't have a set pattern in mind just one I actually finish would be nice.

A small goal in an ocean of projects.

This is going to be a very short post.

Got a flu and pneumonia shot today.

Feel very icky right now.

Must go snuggle under covers.

Do Not Adjust Your Moniters

I apologize for the terrible picture. This is one of those projects I pulled from the archives and had to blow the dust off. The poor thing has not seen the light of day in....Gasp!.....a year. So it was no surprise that it tried to make a run for it when the flash of my camera went off.

Many apologies later and several comments like, "Yes, I do love your colors." and "I never said that Rowan sweater was more important than you"........I managed to sweet talk it out from it's hiding spot under the couch.

This project was supposed to be for last October. It is a mystery even to me as to what image will appear once it is finished. I think it was a witch, or a cat, or a cauldron. Maybe all three. Anyway I am adding this to my list of October projects that need to be finished.

Getting Stuff Done

Sunday was so knit filled I didn't even have a chance to post. I am almost up to the turtleneck section on my Turtleneck Shrug. I was able to sew one of the handles on the Julia Roberts bag. I will try and finish that today.....not promising anything. I finally got the handles and flower onto my Vintage Bubble Bag. So Sunday was quite productive.

Thy Fair Maiden

O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Forget Romeo!! Have you seen Juliet?

This is the new Juliet pattern from Zephyr Style and I am obsessed with it. I am told it is a super fast knit. Yay!! I have seen it modeled by all body types and it is very flattering.

Expect to see this one on the needles within the next few days.

Eye Candy

I realized today that now would be the time to bust out my candy corn bag. I still have to felt it. I have been putting that off because I really like how it looks un-felted. Unfortunately the bag is just way too big to be used as is. I also need to get down to the local craft store and grab some Halloween fabric so I can try and line it. How cute would that be?

Mmmmmm candy

Knit Faster

"Knit Faster" she said. Remind me never to listen to the inner voices.....for they are stupid!! Let me explain. On my lunch break I sit in my car and knit. I am still working on my Turtleneck Shrug by Teva Durham. We are slowly making progress. Slowly is the key word here. Why? Because this whole damn thing is done in ribbing. I am not fond of the ribbing. I don't mind a bit of it here and there BUT when the entire project is ribbing.......I am not a happy girl. It would not surprise me a bit if I were to wake up one of these mornings in a cold sweat screaming, "Knit 3...Purl 3" So today I sit in my car and knit. I am in the zone. I am movin and groovin. When it happens.....I look at the clock and realize I only have four more minutes. Then clear as day I heard the inner voice. It said "Knit Faster." I checked to see where I was in my round and said...."Yes!! I must knit faster!" My hands were going at warp speed and then, WARNING!!! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!! Stitches flew through the air. I watched them do it in slow motion. Matrix style if you will. I sat there too stunned to move. Normally, I have a nice stash of curse words ready to fly on a moments notice. This time, I had nothing. I just sat stunned and stared. The clock ticked away what was left of my break. I tried very carefully to grab the stitches and wrestle them onto the needle. I managed to get all but one.

We have both agreed it is best if we go our separate ways for the night.
