Getting Stuff Done

Sunday was so knit filled I didn't even have a chance to post. I am almost up to the turtleneck section on my Turtleneck Shrug. I was able to sew one of the handles on the Julia Roberts bag. I will try and finish that today.....not promising anything. I finally got the handles and flower onto my Vintage Bubble Bag. So Sunday was quite productive.

This is the Vintage Bubble Bag from the book Pursenalities by Eva Wiechmann

Thy Fair Maiden

O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Forget Romeo!! Have you seen Juliet?

This is the new Juliet pattern from Zephyr Style and I am obsessed with it. I am told it is a super fast knit. Yay!! I have seen it modeled by all body types and it is very flattering.

Expect to see this one on the needles within the next few days.

Eye Candy

I realized today that now would be the time to bust out my candy corn bag. I still have to felt it. I have been putting that off because I really like how it looks un-felted. Unfortunately the bag is just way too big to be used as is. I also need to get down to the local craft store and grab some Halloween fabric so I can try and line it. How cute would that be?

Mmmmmm candy

Knit Faster

"Knit Faster" she said. Remind me never to listen to the inner voices.....for they are stupid!! Let me explain. On my lunch break I sit in my car and knit. I am still working on my Turtleneck Shrug by Teva Durham. We are slowly making progress. Slowly is the key word here. Why? Because this whole damn thing is done in ribbing. I am not fond of the ribbing. I don't mind a bit of it here and there BUT when the entire project is ribbing.......I am not a happy girl. It would not surprise me a bit if I were to wake up one of these mornings in a cold sweat screaming, "Knit 3...Purl 3" So today I sit in my car and knit. I am in the zone. I am movin and groovin. When it happens.....I look at the clock and realize I only have four more minutes. Then clear as day I heard the inner voice. It said "Knit Faster." I checked to see where I was in my round and said...."Yes!! I must knit faster!" My hands were going at warp speed and then, WARNING!!! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!! Stitches flew through the air. I watched them do it in slow motion. Matrix style if you will. I sat there too stunned to move. Normally, I have a nice stash of curse words ready to fly on a moments notice. This time, I had nothing. I just sat stunned and stared. The clock ticked away what was left of my break. I tried very carefully to grab the stitches and wrestle them onto the needle. I managed to get all but one.

We have both agreed it is best if we go our separate ways for the night.

Pretty Woman is a Knitter

These pictures were published in People magazine and knitters everywhere went wild. There was mass hysteria in the yarn shops. Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Bulky flew off the shelves. There was a mad rush for novelty yarns. There was fighting in the streets!! The last time I saw chaos like this was when Tickle Me Elmo hit the shelves that one year for Christmas. OK I am totally exaggerating. I do know several people who went ga-ga over the bag we have come to know as........"The Julia Roberts Bag." Real original huh? I think these pictures were published a year or two ago. So please do not run to your local bookstore or super market to buy the current issue of People magazine. I don't think a true pattern was ever revealed. Everything I saw about it said it was "her own pattern."

Here is my "Julia Roberts Bag" I made for my friend Jamie. I still need to sew the handles on it and then figure out a way to get some silk flowers to be stuck to the front of it. I may have to get really creative with this one. Any suggestions? If so drop me a line.

Here is what I used for my "Julia Roberts Bag": The Fiber Trends Fabulous Felt Totes pattern. I did the largest size. Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Bulky in yup you guessed it......Lemon Drop. The fuzzyness around the top was doubled Trendsetter Crisantemo in Purple Peacock. I used Trendsetter Joy here and there so I would have some fun yarn sticking out. I also used a ladder yarn and some Fizz.

When I am done with it I am going to find a black overcoat, some big dark shades, and pose with my bag Miss Julia Roberts style!

Glutton for Punishment

Oops I did it again..........I went and joined another mystery knitalong. I said I would never do another mystery project after flunking out of Mystery Stole 3. However this one drew me in and whispered "but I am a Halloween project." That pretty much killed me right there. I am such a sucker for a holiday centered around CANDY and all things SCARY. I went right over and signed myself up for the Halloween Mystery Shawl. I am using ebony JaggerSpun Zephyr with some sort of purple beads. I have not purchased the purple beads yet, but that was the color that jumped into my head when I read that beads would be used.

Oh and how perfect is this!?.......I was in Old Navy last week and they had these cute trick or treat bags.......well I just had to have one to hold my new Halloween themed project.
