Pretty in Pink

On Saturday I went over to Stacey's house to watch Mary-Kay give her a tutorial on the art of skeining. During the process we noticed that the yarn being skeined looked very familiar. It matched my hair perfectly! Hmmmm....is there a market for knitters having yarn dyed to match their hair color. If so, I am totally in.

I am seeing green and blue in my future.

Friends of "P" Swap

Friday I arrived home to find an awesome swap package from a mystery person. Although if I didn't know better I would swear that this person was a very close friend. The only thing I know as of right now is that the package is from Virginia.

Let's get down to business.....

I got some freakin awesome goodies!!! I got some fabulous mermaid drink markers. I love me some mermaids!! I got the cutest rubber ducky in sheeps clothing. That is going right up to my yarn room with the rest of my sheep collectibles. I got a coin pouch that says..."penny for your thoughts" and has a cute giraffe on it. I got some yummy......fruit stripe gum and milk n' honey candies. A very funny Lip Pop Lollypop.....I will have to model that for you. A very cool pet tarantula gummi candy. A cow that poops piles of candy. LOVE THAT!!! A bar of the most wonderful smelling handmade soap. A kick ass knitting needle case from Splityarn in the most amazing shades of blue.

I also got some crack. Ok, what I can only assume to be crack disguised as "Crab Town Nuts" Have you heard of these things? Dear God I can't stop eating them! The can describes the little bits of crack......I mean peanuts.......as Virginia Peanuts with Chesapeake Bay Style Seasoning.......aka crack cocaine. LOL!!! Dear mystery person, please expect some money to be coming your way. I will need you to send a case of "Crab Town Nuts" my way.....asap!

Miss Popular

There is nothing better than coming home from work to a mailbox full of goodies.

My friend Bridget sent me this AWESOME coin purse and the most delicious yarn. Soft, doesn't come close to describing this stuff. It is 70% cashmere (mmmmmmm...yummy) and 30% silk. Fabulous!

This fabric came to me all the way from Australia. If you have never heard of Aunty Cookie or seen any of the wonderful things in their Etsy store......I encourage you to run there immediately.

Then I got two Piddly bags from the fabulous ladies over at Piddleloop. Cupcakes and some cute sheep. This is another shop on Etsy. I highly recommend these bags. Be careful though......they are highly addicting. Like potato chips.....you can't have just one.

Actual Knitting Content

I have been knitting. Really I have.

I found buttons for Juliet. I don't know if they are going to be too small. In this picture they look sort of lost. Although a truck would look lost in all that garter stitch. My original plan for the buttons was to go with a bright green color. That was......until I saw these fancy silver ones. Then all the plans for green went out the window. I needed three and there was only three available. I say it was meant to be.

I have the first side of my Counterpane Bag done. I am loving the colors. You really can't go wrong with Noro. I should be close to finishing the other side of the bag tonight. Then I need to shop for handles and some fun fabric to line the inside with. So I will take a trip on down to JoAnne's Fabrics with my 40% off coupon in hand.

Three's a Crowd

While catching up with an old friend the other day, I was asked......"Whatever happened to that guy that was staying with you and your husband?"

He is still here!!!

When he first arrived we asked how long he would be here. The reply was, "Oh no more than three weeks." Three weeks came and went. When asked again.....the reply was, "I will be out the second week in February." The second week in February has come and gone. When asked again when he would be leaving.....the reply was, "The end of March."

Deep breath......

We have told him that he has until the end of this month.

I *Heart* Valentines Day

To celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary, Jeff and I headed south to Manitou Springs. We spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Cliff House. We can not say enough wonderful things about this place. The food was some of the best I have ever eaten. The staff went above and beyond with anything we needed. We lived like a king and queen for the weekend......and I loved every minute of it.

We stayed in the Buffalo Bill room. It is one of their most unique rooms. Why? Because it looks like you are living in a teepee. The ceiling is vaulted and faux painted. Very cool!

We ate strawberries dressed in little tuxedos, and sipped wine by the fireplace.

We loved it so much we already made reservations for next year.

Death Becomes Her

Sadly I kicked the bucket on Wednesday,
February 13, 2008.
It was a driveby knitting that got me.
Death by alpaca was the official statement released to the press.

The pictures below are me posing with the beautiful alpaca weapon. I think I look good as a zombie.

Binary Cable Death Hat

I am NOT a fast knitter. However, in my latest undertaking I knew it was.......knit fast or die!! Saturday morning the Binary Cable hat pattern was released to a group of murderous people. How do I know? Because I am one of them. Hat Attack officially started Saturday morning for those of us here in the United States. By 3:00 Saturday afternoon, a handful of people had already knit the pattern and mailed it off to their targets. By 5:00 the number of deaths had risen dramatically. Because I had stuff to do for the first part of Saturday, I did not get to start knitting my hat until around 6:00 Saturday night. Let's talk about determination.......I stayed up knitting on this hat until 2:30 am. Then took it with me to my 8:00 am weight watchers meeting. Then I worked on it for another hour when I got home. The hat....she is done.

The "Beautiful Blue Weapon of Doom" was mailed at 7:00 this morning. She will be making her way to my target in Mississippi.

As for me? I am currently still alive. I am not one of the casualties just yet. I have noticed that my assassin has been very, very quiet. That makes me nervous.

My Fellow Americans

A new hat was thrown in the ring today in the race for president. Dolores the Sheep has announced that her name will be added to the ballot under a newly formed party called Fibertarians. There is no question who I am voting for now.

What can Dolores do for you? Please read below and than ask what can't she do!?

This was a statement to the press:

"Now, my campaign promises. Unlike the other candidates, I readily admit that I'm in this for the bling. Free travel by private jet, a huge expense account, my own office, and a posse of humpy bodyguards in suits and dark glasses? Betcherass. So just tell me what you want, and I'll want that, too.Let's get the ball of yarn rolling with a few suggestions collected by my press secretary, Harry.

  • Elizabeth Zimmermann's birthday will be declared a national holiday.
  • All fiber-related purchases will be fully tax-deductible.
  • Knitting will become a mandatory subject in American public schools.
  • Government subsidies for the establishment of independent yarn shops in high-need areas.

GO DOLORES!!!

Nuts About Noro

After staring at the "New Age Teal" colored Juliet for longer than I care to mention I was in dire need of some new eye candy. What better way to cheer up your bored eyeballs than to knit with some Noro. I have been wanting to knit the Counterpane Carpet Bag pattern by Carrie Brenner for quite some time now. So I raced upstairs grabbed some Noro from my stash and got to work. This pattern is in the Handknit Holidays book by Melanie Falick. If you do not own it........shame on you!!! It is one of my very favorite books. I highly recommend it. I am in love with the scallop pattern used for the bag. Oh and let's not forget......I have mad love for Noro. Aaaaahhhhhhh Noro you make my heart pitter patter.

Think Pink

I received a package in the mail on Saturday from my pink swap partner Wendi. She totally spoiled me rotten. From the handmade card right down to the pink tic tacs......I LOVE all my goodies.

THANK YOU WENDI!!

Happily Ever After

Juliet.........is DONE!!!

I used the pictures from my "bad boob Juliet" because it looks exactly the same on me. I just need to weave in a few ends and start the search for the perfect buttons. This project damn near killed me. Towards the end I didn't know if I was going to make it. I had one more lace repeat and it took every last ounce of strength to do it. I plan on wearing this garment into the ground. Then when it falls apart I am going to say......Yeah take that!!!!

Thanks to all my cheerleaders.......for keeping me going when I couldn't go no more!!
